Ruling on sharing food after Friday prayer
We often find that some mosques on Friday provide food to be eaten together after performing Friday prayers. Some of this food is purely provided by the mosque administrator, but some is provided by the congregation who wants to share food. Actually, what is the ruling on sharing food after this Friday prayer?
Sharing food anywhere is basically like being distributed in the mosque, on the street, at home and others, including good deeds that are worth charity. In general, giving alms on Friday is highly recommended. Giving charity on Friday is more rewarding than giving charity on a day other than Friday.
There are several hadiths that recommend giving alms on Friday, one of them is the following hadith narrated by Imam Abdurrazzaq;
“And there is no sun that rises and sets on a day more important than Friday. Praying on Friday is more rewarding than all other days.”
In addition, in the book Al-Umm, Imam Al-Shafi’i mentions one of the narrations regarding the virtues of giving charity on Fridays.
In Islam, Friday is the best day compared to other days. Therefore, the Prophet Muhammad recommended to do good, one of them by sharing food after Friday prayers.
