Muslims often meet a few challenges when traveling abroad. One of the challenges is finding halal food especially where Islam is not widely practiced. We need to ensure that the food we consume during our vacation is halal. In addition to this, Halalin curates three tips that you can do to choose halal food while traveling abroad.

Look for Halal or Muslim Friendly Restaurants

First and foremost look for restaurants that have a halal logo or Muslim-friendly restaurant. These restaurants guarantees its customers to serve halal food. For instannce, in Osaka, Japan, there is a Muslim friendly restaurant called Matsuri. The restaurant serves menus that are Muslim-friendly and vegan. This way, you can ensure the food you eat is halal.

Look for Restaurants from Muslim Countries

The second option is to look for restaurants that are originated from Muslim countries. Countries such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia, India, Malaysia, and Indonesia often serve halal food. There you can find vast and delicious halal foods. However, it might be a little tricky to find one if you go to western countries.

Look for Restaurants that Don’t Serve Meats

Last but not least, if the first and second option are hard to do, look for restaurants that don’t serve meats. Eating in a vegan restaurant is also a great option since it does not serve meat. However, remember that restaurants that don’t serve meats (vegan) is not equal as halal restaurants. We need to ensure that the restaurant don’t use other unlawful ingredients such as alcohol beverages (khamr) or alcoholic ingredients such as mirin.
